Following Australia’s commitment to ratify the Kyoto Protocol in 2007, the founder of CPRSX (Robert) commenced developing a climate change action plan to overcome the effects of global warming and climate change in the Philippines. Robert enjoyed decades of in country experience during which he formed relationships with Indigenous Peoples, rural farmers and government officials. He was well placed in 2007 to develop his first Joint Venture Partnership with a major landholder; the objective of which was to develop a carbon sequestration forestry project across 59,000 hectares of land only.
His original plan grew through serendipity, as hundreds of JV Partnerships were formed with rural farmers, Indigenous Peoples and landowners with secure tenure; as knowledge of the Robert’s plan spread to other provinces. While he was living in Quezon Province, hundreds of land owners undertook cross-country journeys to meet Robert and join their lands into what became known as the ‘CPRSX Carbon Sequestration Forestry Rights Pool‘.
In May 2013 CPRSX established its first research office in the Philippines. Robert formed a community led Filipino Management team which included community leaders, pastors, advisors, volunteers and Government officials. This Management Team guided and assisted CPRSX in conducting countless climate change adaptation learning and training sessions throughout the Provinces; pursuant to the principles of Free and Prior Informed Consent. Local Government officials, Mayors and Governors attended all meetings thus enhancing CPRSX’s good fame.
CPRSX obtained unfettered local, municipal, provincial and national Government support and endorsements for what became known as the CPRSX Climate Change Action Plan ™, which includes our first project called Project Eden on a 200,000 hectare land area s in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples across three Provinces of Aurora, Quirino and Nueva Vizcaya.
