Carbon Emissions Trading

For the first time in recorded history, humans are altering the planet in ways that endanger its basic life-support systems. We are rapidly transforming the planet’s atmosphere, its bodies of water and the complex web of species that make up life on Earth. Human emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have changed the Earth’s atmosphere, unleashing a potentially catastrophic climate change that can threaten the survival of human civilisation.

Solutions are actions that work by addressing causes, mitigating impacts and which create new opportunities. Strong economic growth is compatible with strong actions to limit global warming and related risks. Our innovative approach targets  land use change and soil carbon sequestration solutions because the ground beneath our feet is a carbon sponge, capable of sequestering carbon from the atmosphere and retaining carbon in the soil for thousands of years. The conduit for transferring atmospheric carbon into the soil where it belongs, is regulated by photosynthesis – trees, biomass and grass.

Population growth, urbanisation and land clearing will continue unabated as will carbon pollution. Those that pollute the atmosphere with carbon can invest in technology and innovation or carry on ‘business-as-usual‘ if they buy permits – which off set their annual emissions.

Our source for creating permits are our REDD+ compliant Carbon Sequestration Forestry Rights and our Protected Food Production projects in the Philippines. An independent Feasibility Study shows that our projects will produce many millions of verifiable, registered permits which can be purchased directly or traded on emissions trading markets; of which there are many. The benefit of emissions trading is that they allow private firms the flexibility to determine technology choices and options themselves, and compare the cost of technological investments to the cost of buying permits, thus allowing polluters to choose the cost effective pathway of compliance.

Allowing private entities to trade permis amongst themselves creates maximum flexibility. Tradable permits also facilitate the mobilisation of private capital for controlling global warming; private capital is an important component of an effective global warming mitigation strategy. We believe that our long term commercial outlook is all the more sustainable because carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere for thousands of years. Professional financial modelling and forecasting shows that the balance between supply and demand for permits favours CPRSX for many decades to come.

This balance weighs in our favour all the more because human activity is responsible for 51 billion tons of annual emissions; and there is no way this amount can be sequestered annually because, in the coming decades the projected population growth will advance the pace of deforestation, urbanisation, food and water insecurity, hunger and poverty. There is an unavoidable imperative to reforest large land areas from which a sustainable supply of Carbon Permits can be generated for emissions trading through CPRSX’s carbon sequestration projects.
