Food Security

Populations are suffering from food and water insecurity, hunger and malnutrition. Population growth will exacerbate food demand by an estimated 50 percent while crop yields are expected to decline by 30 percent. Agriculture is highly exposed to climate change because farming depends entirely on suitable climatic conditions. Agriculture contributes to climate change through the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. However, the CPRSX Climate Change Action Plan addresses these outcomes through a unique Protected Food Production Program why is supported by innovative land-use-change and management processes.

Our JV Partners will transfer their their small scale farms into our greenhouses. The transfer will lead to increased yields and overcome traditional crop losses. The land area needed for increased crop output is lower in our greenhouses.  Agricultural water consumption will reduce by 95%. This adaptation plan enhances community resilience to the adverse impacts of climate change.

The World Food Program (WFP) helps communities by encouraging self-sufficiency through food and cash assistance programmes. People are given food or cash in exchange for their participation in asset-creation activities and vocational skills training aimed at strengthening their livelihoods and building resilience to climatic events. CPRSX is building on WFP by introducing ultra modern, high tech greenhouses which will enable equal access to export and national markets. Our JV Partners and their local communities will gain new employment and livelihood opportunities. They will benefit from access to the skills and educational programs delivered by Wageningen UR and Delphy of the Netherlands and Quirino State University in the Philippines.
